Chardonnay 2024

Chardonnay 2024

$65

A cool-climate Chardonnay, balancing texture with acidity, freshness and mineral character.

Made from Clone 95, the inaugural 2024 Chardonnay opens with white peach, lime zest and green plum, followed by dried lychee, biscuit and cedar. The palate is creamy and finely textured, held by grapefruit acidity and a chalky, saline line that persists through the finish.

Vintage & Wine Details

VINTAGE

El Niño produced one of the driest and warmest Waitaki seasons of the previous two decades. An unsettled spring was followed by steady summer and autumn conditions, with fewer late-afternoon coastal winds. Harvest began approximately ten days ahead of the long-term average.

VINEYARD

Single-vineyard fruit from the Clos Ostler monopole in the Waitaki Valley. Chardonnay clone 95 is grown on the estate’s north-facing limestone soils, where the extended growing season preserves acidity and mineral tension.

WINEMAKING

The fruit was harvested by hand and whole-bunch pressed. Fermentation took place entirely in French oak barriques with ambient yeast. The wine completed malolactic fermentation and remained in barrel for 11 months.
